Construction Hold Points Guide
Understanding hold points, witness points, and quality verification in ITPs.
What is a Hold Point?
A Hold Point (H) is a mandatory verification stage where work must stop until the principal or their representative grants approval to proceed. Work cannot continue without documented release.
What is a Witness Point?
A Witness Point (W) is an opportunity for inspection. The principal must be notified before the work is performed, but if they choose not to attend, work may proceed after the notification period.
Types of Verification Points
- H - Hold Point - Must stop, must have release
- W - Witness Point - Notify, may proceed if no attendance
- R - Review Point - Documentation review required
